There are approximately 65 flood irrigated acres with the balance of the acreage as riparian river habitat, brush filled coulees and native grasses throughout.
The improvements are modest but functional and maintained, with some updating along the way. The buyer will not be paying a premium for unneeded, tasteless buildings. Interior and perimeter fencing on the farm is in good, workable condition.
Winters: Winters in Absarokee are cold and can bring significant snowfall. December through February sees temperatures often dropping below freezing, with January being the coldest month. Snow is common during this period, providing a picturesque winter landscape. Residents can enjoy winter sports such as skiing and snowmobiling, especially with the nearby mountains offering excellent opportunities for snow-related activities.

Annual Precipitation: Absarokee receives a moderate amount of precipitation throughout the year. While winters bring snowfall, precipitation in the form of rain is more common during the warmer months. Summer thunderstorms are not uncommon, contributing to the overall annual precipitation of 16-17 inches.
For decades, the ranch has been leased and cared for by a local rancher who takes pride in caring for the land and is a family known for their stewardship. On a typical year, the cattle will graze on the top portion of the ranch from May through November, and begin on the lush grasses in the lower bottoms in June or July.
The Stillwater River begins high in the Beartooth mountains as it descends to it’s confluence with the Yellowstone River, 70 miles later, at Columbus, MT. Between points is known as some of the best dry fly fishing in the state, producing large, healthy trout. Despite it’s name, the river is anything but still and several stretches are classified as Class II and Class III rapids. Additionally, hunting can occur on the property for white tail deer or mule deer, whichever you prefer.
Red Lodge is a bustling little ski town under an hour drive from the Ranch. Red Lodge Mountain, located just outside the town, is a premier ski destination. With diverse terrain and excellent snow conditions, it caters to both beginners and experienced skiers and snowboarders. The ski resort provides a winter wonderland for enthusiasts to enjoy.

From Absarokee, Montana’s largest city Billings is only an hour drive north and east.
