The red barn at the Glantz Ranch is an area landmark and has been recognized by the Montana Historical society as Montana Heritage Barn. The barn was built in 1926 with a gambrel style roof and full hay loft. The ranch home is a two story structure built in 1937 with five bedrooms and one bath, there is a thirty by sixty insulated shop with overhead doors on both ends allowing for a drive through, a large calving barn with extensive corral system and several smaller outbuildings.

The Glantz Ranch has historically been operated as a cow calf operation. John Glantz is presently running 80 cows and summering about 40 yearling bred heifers. The ranch could easily support more animal units but the owners prefer to lightly graze and allow the grasses to naturally reseed, range conditions are excellent and far superior to most in the area.
The ranch has excellent water rights and irrigates about 150 acres of hay meadow along Red Lodge Creek which produces the ranches winter feed supply. Another 75 acres are in hay production but are not irrigated. The ranch normally produces a substantial surplus of hay.

Wildlife Resources

The Glantz Ranch supports a healthy population of mule deer and whitetail deer along with the occasional elk, black bear and antelope along with many other wildlife species. Red Lodge Creek with its ox bows and bends, flows through the ranch for well over 1.5 miles providing the opportunity to fish for rainbow, brook and brown trout. Red lodge is home to a beautiful 18 hole golf course while hundreds of miles of hiking trails exist in the nearby Beartooth Mountains, Custer National Forest and Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness Area. Red Lodge is also considered one of the gateway communities to Yellowstone Park and the beginning of the Beartooth Highway which is considered by many the most beautiful drive in America.
