The ranch headquarters consist of a main ranch home of log construction with three bedrooms and two baths. The original ranch home was built in 1926 and has five bedrooms and three baths, there’s a bunkhouse with one bedroom and one bath along with a 25 by 42 metal wall shop with concrete floor. There are several smaller outbuildings along with an open sided machine shed and good set of working corrals.
The EV Ranch is in a higher-than-normal rainfall area of Montana, receiving an average of 16 to 22 inches of moisture per year. Summer temperatures occasionally range into the 90’s with wintertime lows below zero.
The EV Ranch is located on the northern slope of the famed Wolf Mountains. Southeastern MT, especially Thompson Creek, Little Thompson Creek and Reno Creek drainages, are well respected as some of the finest ranch country in Montana. Strong stands of native grasses, 16-to-22-inch annual rainfall, production, and live water, all contribute to the EV Ranch’s reputation. The ranch is fenced and crossed fenced with numerous pastures to allow effective range management and has been operated as one of the reputation yearling outfits in the west, with gains of two plus pounds a day. Water resources are abundant with numerous springs, flowing streams and four wells, there are approximately 600 acres of hay fields and scattered to heavy stands of ponderosa pines through much of the ranch for summer shade and shelter.
This area is rich in Native American History. General George Custer and the 7th Cavalry marched through this area on the way to the Battle of the Little Bighorn.
The EV Ranch is without doubt one of the finest ranches in the state of Montana, with exceptional water resources and strong grass.
Location Details
The EV Ranch is conveniently located on Thompson Creek Road with easy access off Highway 314, five miles south of Highway 212 near Busby Montana. Sheridan Wyoming is an easy 60-mile drive south on Highway 314 and Billings Montana is approximately 90 miles to the northwest, both of which have all the conveniences of a large city with shopping, entertainment, great restaurants and commercial air service.
